I think this might be painful to do, because there is no "rm_confdir" stanza in the dpkg-maintscript-helper. And i'm not sure how popular such a sub-command would be in dpkg-maintscript-helper. Maybe I am allowed to ship a dpkg trigger, to become sensitive on /etc/init and try to remove it all the time via a trigger? Cause then the below script will be sufficient to modify many packages to drop upstart jobs. I will propose rm_confdir to dpkg, maybe it will be accepted/deemed necessary to have.
