I'd say:
1. get DAM to say that we wouldn't close your account if you did it
following a given set of steps (like, at least a successful NMU with
no reaction, and the salvaging NMU uploaded in the maximum delayed
queue and notified [how?])
2. document it (a d-d-a post, a bit in developers-reference)
3. do it
if a overly-territorial person fails to respond to those without a good
reason (I can only think of "I was VAC"), I don't think we have much to
lose.
