twemproxy aka nutcracker is a fast and lightweight proxy for memcached and
redis protocol.
It was primarily built to reduce the connection count on the backend caching
servers.
This is already packaged and in Debian (and is, in fact, part of
jessie). Since everything, including the binary itself, with the sole
exception of the Github repository is called "nutcracker", I opted into
using that name. I'm working on 0.4.1 and will have it uploaded by next
week too.
