Contrary to Cartesian FFTs, non-uniform FFTs are much more expensive to compute and scale badly with increase of dimensionality. The PNFFT library allows for acceleration of computation time using multi-dimensional MPI distribution. This package will be maintained by the Debian science team, alongside existing FFT libraries such as FFTW and NFFT.
