I have absolutely no opinion on the politics of today or that lead to the fork... but the following two: - it would surely be the best for all users if ffmpeg and if libav merge back together and only one of them ist kept - I personally would prefer the name libav (even if the ffmpeg fork is chosen as the base)... it's simply much more generic, showing much better that ffmpeg is not just about fast forward mpeg.
