This decision has now been made. I think it very unlikely that the TC is going to revisit it, at least for jessie. The draft TC decision text has been floating around for several months, including being posted to this bug report and thus to the debian-ctte@lists mailing list. The right time to make these points was when the matter was being discussed by the committee. So I'm sorry to say this, but: can we please end this discussion. If someone wants to reopen it for jessie+1 then I guess the TC would reconsider it then.
