ssm is the one who's the active on the packaging side there, so you
probably want to ask him.  (Cc-ed)

My upstream hat says «wait for v4», but if you need something today that
might not be a viable option.  ssm did mention something about putting
4.0-tp1 into experimental, so you could build against that if he does.
We'd love to see some real-life feedback on the changes we've made to
make packagers' lives easier.
