Well, technically, git-buildpackage and gitpkg both allow you to import
existing source packages in a Git repository so that you can always
do that first, work in it and then generate the source package to upload.

Obviously dgit add some value to make this less of a pain and to make
actual collaboration among multiple persons possible, but it wasn't
obvious to me either, that's why I asked you some more questions
in the other parts of this thread.
