It depends if you believe you have users or not. It depends if it is
harder to care about the upgrade path than handle helping users getting
stuck and filing weird bug reports.

If it is just a matter of a couple of extra conflicts/replaces, I would
do it. If it requires lots of maintainerscript logic, then I probably
wouldn't.
