Hi10p is a useless hack that makes videos unreadable with hardware acceleration. I wouldn’t recommend using it in the general case. The GStreamer packages don’t understand Hi10p anyway, even in sid. Feel free to propose patches, but upstream. You can use the avconv package instead of avidemux to manipulate Hi10p files, and mplayer/smplayer can read them. Cheers, -- .''`.
