Neither does anyone else, which is why they want to be able to use the SIMD features in their CPUs for (much) faster JPEG processing. So far a good case seems to be being made that that is more useful and more requested than the relatively minor image quality improvements you mentioned. (And they can be had without any issues with incompatible image formats.)
