My apologies for trying to get this started in parallel. It clearly got things off on the wrong foot. You'll find things quite a bit more developed now, I think; as I said on Monday, I was aiming for feature equivalence by Friday, and expect to hit it with completion of bug 681 tomorrow: https://github.com/dankamongmen/raptorial https://www.sprezzatech.com/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=681 In any case, it appears that this is an idea which is only going to stir up resentment from the APT team -- understandably, I suppose -- and thus I cheerfully withdraw my suggestion that Debian and the APT Team look at it. I look forward to a non-glacial apt-show-versions in Debian, however it happens and whomever writes it. Feel free to package rapt-show-versions should that C++ apt-show-versions never get itself written.
