Heyya Michael, It's currently tied to Python 2.7 (but not to a very high degree, it's totally backportable). It's got one dependency only in unstable (validictory), and I don't think tests pass for some silly non-fatal reason, but a sloppy backport isn't out of the question. That being said, I'm not sure this is fit for a straight backport (someone feel free to correct me). I'll look at hacking in support for stable in a branch, given we're likely releasing soonish anyway.
