I've never seen it either.
But I've seen many instances of the following:
- A knowledgeable DD write about "conffiles"
- a newbie writing "yes but my configuration files"
- Then the DD writing "I really meant conffiles, not configuration file"
As Jakub wrote: search for "conffiles" in the -mentors list, and I guess
you'll see.
So this *is* a confusing word which I don't like.
