All upstreams ought to rewrite > many parts of the source code to work with this default linker config. +1 A package I am working one [1] is also affected by this bug. the only work around I found for now is to remove this flag during the build with this line in the rules file [2]. It would be nice if ubuntu would remove this problematic flag. It is painfull to have user complaining about FTBFS on ubuntu just because of this flag. It took me some time to understand the problem. It there a good reason explaining the presence of this flag ?
