Not a piece of software proper, but I, too, am learning programming and have found the book "The Art of Unix Programming" by Eric S. Raymond to be quite invaluable. I don't have an ISBN, as I have the PDF version, but a google for 'taoup.pdf site:catb.org' should yield something. Unsure if it's been translated to Portugese though.
