AFAIK, volatile.d.o _is_ the proper way to keep the timezone database up-to-date. What we can do is checkpoint volatile (either all of it, or selected parts of it) into all minor stable releases, for those with setups that don't get updates from volatile. -- "One disk to rule them all, One disk to find them.
