It sounds good until you notice just how many dependency resolvers we
have floating around.  dselect, apt, aptitude, pbuilder, sbuild - at
least.  Don't know if synaptic has its own or borrows from libapt.

Without researching it, I'd say the 'default-mta' virtual package is
more likely to work everywhere.  And historically, it doesn't always
pay to hold your breath waiting for both dpkg and apt to implement a
new feature.
