On my IBM i have normaly 4-6 XTerms open, mozilla and gaim.
Just looking around my desktop I spy 12 xterms open, and this is from a fairly recent cleanup. I dare say my workstation at work has somewhere in the region of 40 running xterms at the moment... all running bash.
