[Little OT] Minor historical detail if someone is interested: 'test' in coreutils comes from sh-utils, and sh-utils changelog has this entry: Sun Aug 11 18:10:30 1991 David J. MacKenzie (djm at wookumz.gnu.ai.mit.edu) [...] * test.c: New file, from bash. So you in fact _are_ using a bash feature, and there was a time when /usr/bin/test did not even exist (but hey, neither did Debian :-) But this is not really relevant in the current discussion.
