I'm truely unimpressed with the "users can't handle symlinks" argument. There are other cases where symlinks in /etc have been used to capture information (sendmail and/or SASL being another I've dealt with in the past, also vservers) and in general I don't think there's anything wrong with it. In all of these cases the files pointed to are not intended to be modified but what file is used can be configured. I believe the certificates are exactly this way (and, really, are quite close to the alternatives setup). Enjoy, Stephen
