Evaluate the following case: * you install linux with the mentioned 2-partition layout * you install another OS that needs a primary partition - Installer makes extended partition full size: you have to reduce the size to install the other OS. - Installer makes two primary partitions: no problems at all - Installer makes extended partition _not_ full size: mentioned problem.
