Since initramfs-tools, yaird, and initrd-tools all depend on dash anyway, the majority of etch (and sarge!) systems include both bash and dash anyway, so I consider this a red herring; dash is already effectively part of base and installed system size isn't a reason not to use it. -- see shy jo
