Mostly I think the problem is that aptitude has a hard time figuring out that it should replace xlibmesa-glu with libglu1-mesa. I had that problem too. With one upgrade, it was the second or third option in resolving the dependencies; with another upgrade, there were too many choices and too many other issues involved and I had to unconfuse it by hand.
