Don't know about CanLog, but the teTeX package in experimental got indeed quite some testing. I think the difference to shadow is that hardly any user feels the urgent need to have the most recent upstream version of shadow; they simply don't notice it. teTeX, on the other hand, is outdated in sarge/etch/sid, and people *really* want version 3.0. This doesn't mean we won't get RC bugs once we are in unstable (this week!), because the testing was mainly by individual users, but not by developers; there'll be a couple of FTBFS bugs in packages build-depending on us.
