I heard apt-rpm has it. It does seem simple and useful. Meanwhile, since Pre-Depends are used so rarely, just do this: dpkg --unpack filename.deb apt-get -f install apt installs the dependencies, then configures the package. So long as you don't have unsatisfied pre-depends, and the package doesn't Conflict with anything on your system (or, of course, vice versa), it'll work perfectly. Peter
