Assume that the majority of the outgoing mail volume from a list server depends on incoming mail to this list server. If you reduce the incoming volume to this list server, there should also be less outgoing volume. One can also assume that delivering spam[0] to a will be more expensive than delivering non-spam, since some servers use delaying tactics when they receive the former.
