I just downgraded to aptitude 0.2.11.1-4 and apt 0.5.4 (on the upgraded sarge system) and can reproduce this bug. If I change the lines back to woody in sources.list aptitude update fails while apt-get update succeeds. aptitude 0.2.15.9-2 and apt 0.5.28.6 from sarge don't have this bug. Gaudenz -- Ever tried.
