Yes, but the fact that it is a bit more difficult to write lintian tests for such stuff pales in comparison to the benefits of the stdout/stderr tagging approach. Besides, we will be rewriting and going fine-comb over all the initscripts anyway (it is pointless to even imagine that the maintainer themselves will do it.
