Not that I was a friend of yada, but AFAIK it's allowed for a maintainer to use whatever tools he wants for his packaging. If this is wrong and I missed a part of Debian policy not allowing yada, RC bugs should be filed against all packages using yada. And ftpmaster alone was a bad point to disallow yada.
