Where I am very surprised that nobody of the very vocal and oh-so-bored maintainers who have nothing else to than waiting for their NEW packages has started an effort to the latter effect: Collecting tidbits of information concerning the various packages rotting in NEW and making that information public. Without public information, there is no discussion. Without discussing those things (especially those ftp-masters have generally express their distrust by ignoring them) nothing will happen.
