For the record: The next upload of gettext for unstable (whenever it will be) will move gettext.sh to /usr/share/gettext and will have /usr/bin/gettext.sh as a symlink to it. Whether that's temporary or definitive, I don't know yet, but it would not be wise to do more than that at this point.
