I tries to have the look and feel of the gnome-theme-manager. It can install and select xcursor-themes. It work by setting, on gnome 2.4, the ~/.icons/default/index.theme file. On gnome 2.5.5 and higher it sets the correct gconf key for it. Setting a xcursor theme isn't instant. In most cases it requires a restart of X to apply. It uses file-roller to extract themes when installing.
