I always have the impression that those packages having "powerful" in the description are the least deserving it... Besides that, "for GNU/Linux" in a Debian GNU/Linux package description is quite redundant. That leaves us with "text editor" ;-) I'd pick some of the features you mentioned for the description, e.g. "text editor with syntax hilighting, XY and ZW".
