I suggest you read /usr/share/doc/pcmcia-cs/FAQ.Debian.gz: o The PCMCIA network interface is established too late in the boot procedure for my DHCP client. Shouldn't the PCMCIA daemon be started earlier in the boot process? In short, no. (see the file for more information) -- Sam.
