It is if they have to dig up what the correct SMTP server is. Or if they're on a laptop whose "correct" local SMTP server changes as a function of time. | And what if the local user wants to use a remote SMTP server for some reason? They are welcome to configure ssmtp or exim to forward to a smarthost. This has the additional advantage that there's only /one/ point where the outgoing SMTP server needs to be specified, and if it changes later, there is only one program that needs to be reconfigured.
