Cluttering the namespace? The name isn't very generic, I'd say. A moderately complex sed one-liner is probably all that's needed, but to have it in a file is nice. If Debian cannot distribute the decss that allows Debian users to view DVD movies (yet), then distributing this one is a good alternative, I'd say.
