IMHO the only reason why a bug should be closed is that it has been fixed by a Debian release. The confusion in this particular instance arises from a misunderstanding of what the bug is between the developer and the user. Putting more information in the debian/changelog entry may make that misunderstanding more obvious, but it doesn't solve the problem as the bug would've been closed anyway. -- Debian GNU/Linux 3.0 is out!
