True enough, but since USENIX took over Atlanta Linux Showcase, ran it for one year, and then shot it in the back of a head like a drug kingpin assassinating an unwanted lieutenant, Debian developers in the U.S., particularly the southeast, have been missing a bit of an opportunity for a gathering.
