Strange. This is a freshly installed and updated woody chroot, too. I don't have convenient access to the system right now, but I have never set that environment variable myself, and I really doubt that anything else would have set it with me knowing. So I wonder what is different about my system that means it doesn't work here, but it works everywhere else? Could it be related to devfs or something? (on the host system, I have devfs compiled into the kernel, but disabled on boot.) Also I have configured pbuilder to use DEVPTS.
