It does say "if you must, go ahead and use tbl(1)". While I wouldn't consider eqn or refer or whatever all that portable to other tools, I don't think I'd have any qualms about using tbl. It will certainly be available with any half-decent nroff installation. -- Colin Watson [EMAIL PROTECTED]
