I wanted to have it use "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" which is of course neither my
hostname, nor my mailname. To do that, I set the "user-mail-address" variable
for the debian-changelog mode explicitly as in

        Local variables:
        mode: debian-changelog
        user-mail-address: "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
        End:     

Works just fine.
