Hi,
In my never ending quest to get flamed over the WNPP, the next phase
is moving orphaned packages to project/orphaned. I intend to
generate weekly reports straight out of the WNPP information
contained on the BTS and mail them to debian-devel-announce. The
attached file is the information that would be sent. Suggestions
regarding improvements are welcomed (specially wrt the wording of the
text, lately my English stinks more than usual)
If you take a look at that file you'll note:

| be requested that they are moved into project/orphaned:
and a large list of packages after that. This is what the QA docs[1]
say happens. I actually need to filter out packages according to
priority, that means a request to remove silo *won't* be sent, so
please don't flame me on that one. OTOH, a request to remove csh
will be sent eventually unless ejb is really maintaining csh. That
is to say, the WNPP information still needs cleaning. Before sending
this weekly reports I intend to mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
asking for confirmation whether the package is really up for
adoption/orphaned.
After that, what will happen is this:
* Every friday a mail will be sent to d-d-a with a list of packages
in need of a new maintainer and orphaned packages.
* Every day a script will run thru the list of packages marked as
"Orphaned". For every package (< important) which has been
orphaned longer than 28 days, a bug will be submitted against
ftp.debian.org requesting the package to be moved to
project/orphaned. Once the package is there, the corresponding
wnpp bug will be downgraded and retitled as "Withdrawn".
Regarding the severity of the ftp.debian.org bug: important.
Rationale: in the general case, packages that managed to get to this
state are non-interesting (otherwise they would have been adopted
already). That means it's a non maintained package which noone cares
about, which in turn means bugreports won't get answered to. IMO,
they *should* be removed before release. Counter-arguments for the
general case are welcomed.
