FWIW, the upshot of the whole exchange last night and my cluelessness proved to me convincingly that Anthony is wildly totally radically right here. If I had already had in my head the way of thinking about it that he expresses (and had not made a stupid mistake in the first place, and been more patient myself) much needless grief would have been avoided. So I'm grateful for his advice, and I think what he says here is really really helpful to me. It's just so clearly *right*, that I can't even figure out how twenty-four hours ago I could have thought differently.
