IA64 is for CPUs that don't support 32 bits,and AMD64 is for those that do.If your CPU can be installed on your mainboard,there's little possibility that CPU is not well supported by BIOS.the most possible reason can be that a AMD64 architecture CPU is taken for a IA64 one.
