I have subscribed to dia list for a while and reported the chinese support problem; it seems that the issue has been dropped for now due to lack of developer interest.
There is a patch to enable chinese input into DiaText and related shapes, and this patch works. However, to input chinese onto the canvas of Dia, another patch is needed to enable parsing of CTRL key events. for details, pls see the "Chinese support glitches" thread in dia list archives. Conlusion: dia doesn't support entering chinese characters onto DiaText or related shapes, and the situaiont isn't going to change soon unless some chinese developers interested in working on Dia help make/test patches.
