AFAIK no supported armel machines boot from CD or DVD. For arm, you can apparently boot a netwinder from a parallel port CD drive, but armel doesn't support netwinders. So there's very little point in having any images. The only other use I can see is loop mounting an image on a web/ftp server and using it as a partial mirror, which doesn't work very well since apt wants it to be gpg signed, and is especially problimatic during installation since it probably doesn't include all udebs that would be needed for a network installation. -- see shy jo
