Thanks. Are the AMD 64 bit cpus compatable?

No....The whole 64-bit thing kind of went like this... I == Intel, A == AMD

I: (enthusiastically) '64-bit 64-bit 64-bit!!! ia64 ia64 ia64!!!'
A: 'uhh hey guys....party is over here...'
I: '....'
A: 'no really... it is'
I: (weakly an confused) 'amd64 amd64 amd64...'

:)

Intel has said they plan to suppor the AM 64 bit set. AMD totally beat intel to the punch on that one, got market share and traction. AMDs 64-bit platform is also quite better. TAke a look at <http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/DownloadableAssets/Opteron2Pwkstn_comparisons.pdf> for some reasons why, yes it sounds like FUD, but really, its almost all entirely true, they might've exaggerated a little, but not very much. Intel is the equivalent of a hub, while AMD has the equivalent of a switch, atleast on well designed motherboards AMD is...Intel hasn't the option even.
