I noticed this. We here in Norway use Debian to make a install CD for the primary schools in Norway, and exclude the following packages from the first CD. I hope this list is interesting for the rest of you. Some of the packages are base packages which are only useful when creating the boot floppies, and which I believe should be dropped from the first CD. Some of them are packages we don't need as we use cups, kdm, jdk 1.3, gcc 2.95, emacs21 and ispell. acorn-fdisk aolserver aspell-da aspell-de aspell-en aspell-es aspell-fo aspell-fr aspell-pt biff bootp cfdisk-utf8 courier-mta cpp-3.0 emacs20 emacs20-dl emacs20-el exim-tls finger ftpd g++-3.0 g77-3.0 gcc-3.0 gij gpm gs-aladdin ibm-jdk1.1-installer jdk1.1 kaffe kernel-image-2.2.20 kernel-image-2.2.20-compact kernel-image-2.2.20-idepci kernel-image-2.2.20-reiserfs kernel-image-2.2.20-udma100-ext3 kernel-image-2.4.16-386 kernel-image-2.4.16-586 kernel-image-2.4.16-586tsc kernel-image-2.4.16-686 kernel-image-2.4.16-686-smp kernel-image-2.4.16-k6 kernel-image-2.4.16-k7 kernel-image-2.4.18-586tsc kernel-image-2.4.18-686 kernel-image-2.4.18-686-smp kernel-image-2.4.18-bf2.4 kernel-image-2.4.18-k6 kernel-image-2.4.18-k7 kernel-pcmcia-modules-2.4.18-386 kernel-pcmcia-modules-2.4.18-586tsc kernel-pcmcia-modules-2.4.18-686 kernel-pcmcia-modules-2.4.18-686-smp kernel-pcmcia-modules-2.4.18-k6 kernel-pcmcia-modules-2.4.18-k7 kernel-source-2.2.20 kernel-source-2.4.10 kernel-source-2.4.12 kernel-source-2.4.13 kernel-source-2.4.14 libstdc++3 lpr nscd palo pgp php3 pump sendmail sendmail-doc slang1a-utf8 ssh-askpass ssh-askpass-nonfree ssh-nonfree telnetd xdm -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
