I solved my problem by the simple expedient of upgrading to the latest
version of ncftp. Now things work just as advertised!
Sorry to bother you.
Thanks.

I am attempting to acquire a set of debian cds using a Red Hat 6.2
workstation. I have downloaded the pseudo-image kit and followed the
README instructions to the point where I invoke the "make-pseudo-image"
script. This is what I see in the xterm:
[pecondon@big bin1]$ ./make-pseudo-image binary-i386-1.list
ftp://ftp.us.debian.org/debian
Generating file list...
Processing: /README.non-US
Getting...
followed by no further activity on the modem. It is stuck.
I look in the bin1 directory at the pseudo-image.log file and
see(towards the end):
Guest login ok, access restrictions apply.
Logging in...
Logged in to ftp.us.debian.org.
*** Error: getline(): not interactive, use stdio.
What does this error message mean, and how do I fix/get_passed it?
FYI, I am accessing the internet using ipmasq on a second Linux box and
ppp. Other than ipmasq, I do not have a firewall (unless Red Hat went
ahead and installed one without telling me)
Thanks
